- All Aboard Summer Reading Program
June 1, 2009 - August 28, 2009 A magical experience that will take you on a trip and teach you new things about people and places! Participate in the “I've Been Readin' on the Railroad” Summer Reading Program at the B & O Railroad Museum and the Ellicott City Station and earn a free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit. It's easy and the trip down the tracks will be fun. Let the magic of reading and the railroad take you on a special journey. Pick up a reading journal at the B & O Railroad Museum or the Ellicott City Station, browse the children's railroad books and begin your journey! Read 8 railroad-related books, complete your journal and return it to either Museum by August 28, 2009 for your free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit!
- The Tell-Tale Tour
June 15 - September 30, 2009 Edgar Allan Poe wrote his first horror stories in Baltimore. What was Baltimore like back then? Find out by taking The Edgar Allan Poe Tell-Tale Tour of Baltimore, June 15 through September 30, 2009. Explore Poe’s Baltimore through many of the fascinating museums, attractions and tours brought to you by the Greater Baltimore History Alliance. Collect a Raven Trail Guide stamp from at least five attractions and you could win one of several great prizes.
The Edgar Allan Poe Tell-Tale Baltimore Tour of Baltimore is brought to you by the Greater Baltimore History Alliance and the Baltimore Area Convention & Visitors Association. Tell-Tale Tour Trail Guides are available in the June issue of Baltimore magazine, at the Inner Harbor Visitor Center, and participating Greater Baltimore History Alliance museums. Collect a Raven Trail Guide stamp at least five participating attractions and you could win one of several great prizes. Participating Greater Baltimore History Alliance attractions include the National Museum of Dentistry, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Industry, Mount Clare Museum House, Homewood Museum, the Star-Spangled Trails, the Maryland Historical Society, the Jewish Museum of Maryland and the Top of the World Observation Level. Visitors can tour many of the Museum's facilities including the 1884 Roundhouse where you can climb aboard a real locomotive and see the most comprehensive collection of American railroad artifacts in the world.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 10:30 a.m. Visit the Museum and enjoy story time as you listen to classic railroad children's books. Kiddie train rides are included in the price of admission. Recommended for children between the ages of 2-5.

Saturday, August 8, 2009 Demonstrations begin at 11:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. Ever wonder how the Museum moves locomotives and cars in and out of the 1884 Roundhouse? Come find out! Watch Museum staff use the turntable to move an historic railcar.

- Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train Tour

- Railfest Steam Days
Saturday, October17 & Sunday, October 18, 2009 Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Programs and demonstrations highlight steam power and celebrate the Museum's historic steam engine collection, which includes icons such as the oldest operating steam locomotive William Mason, The Tom Thumb, and Lafayette.
- Toddler Time Halloween Celebration & Costume Parade
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 10:30 a.m. Join us for this year's last Toddler Time, featuring a classic railroad story and a Halloween celebration. Children will parade around the Museum campus gathering special treats. There's a kiddie train ride too! All included in the price of admission. Recommended for children between the ages of 2-5.

- Veteran’s Day Swing Dance
Saturday, November 7, 2009 7:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Dress in your 1940’s period dress, grab a partner, and swing dance the night away in the B&O Railroad Museum’s 1884 Roundhouse to the live swing band music of Dale Corn & Orchestra. Don’t know how to dance? There will even be an half hour dance instruction beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets on sale after Memorial Day by contacting Kathy Hargest at kathy.hargest@borail.org or by calling 410-752-2462 x 207. Tickets are $50. per person and include the dance instruction, beer, wine, soda, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
- Veterans Day Weekend at the B&O
Saturday, November 7 & Sunday, November 8, 2009 Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Salute the military and veterans at the B&O! Join us for special living history presentations by members of the 4th Infantry Division Military Police Unit on our WWII Troop Sleeper. Vintage military vehicles will also be on display.
